Lorex recorders and many Lorex cameras save video locally, so there is no monthly fee to record. Extra features can depend on the model, so check the product page.

How Lorex local recording works

It depends on how many cameras you have, their resolution and how long you want to keep video. Recorders save to a hard drive (the capacity, such as 2TB or 4TB, is in the product name) and some cameras use a microSD card.

A simple way to estimate storage

Higher resolution shows more detail, which helps with faces and distant objects, but it also uses more storage. 2K is a good all-round choice and 4K gives extra detail.

1080p vs 2K vs 4K vs 12MP explained

Lorex cameras are made to record at night, and many have infrared night vision or colour night vision. The range and features differ by model, so check the product page for the exact camera.

Outdoor Lorex cameras are made for outdoor use, but the weather rating and temperature range differ by model, so check the specs on the product page. Indoor cameras should stay indoors.

Cold ratings and weatherproofing explained

Compatibility depends on the recorder and camera series. Email support@thegalaxystore.ca with the model number of what you have and what you would like to add, and we will tell you whether they work together.

Lorex Fusion explained

Lorex cameras and recorders can be viewed from Lorex's free mobile app for iPhone and Android. The exact app and features depend on the model, so email support@thegalaxystore.ca if you are unsure.

We are an online store. We do not have a phone line or local pickup, and every order ships with tracking. The fastest way to reach us is email: support@thegalaxystore.ca.

The payment options available are shown at checkout. If you need to pay another way, email support@thegalaxystore.ca before you order.

An NVR records IP cameras over a network, and a DVR records analog cameras. Which you need depends on your cameras.

NVR vs DVR explained

It depends on your home and what you want to watch. A common start is to cover the front door, the driveway or garage and the back door.
